Q  : “… Where can I get the benefits of Omega-3? I mean, what foods are naturally rich in this fatty acid? My doctor told me that I need to supplement with fish oil since I don’t consume enough and says that I could experience some long-term brain or neuronal disorders if I choose to leave it that way. Thanks in advance – Brian … “

A:  Hi Brian, how are you? Your doctor has a reason to worry if in fact it has been discovered that you have omega-3 deficiency. You can find Omega-3 naturally in cold water fatty fish, such as salmon, tuna and mackerel. An easier way would   the  pills  fish oil omega-3  , peroen my opinion, also wantget the other  benefits of fish  . You can also find it a little in grass-fed organic meat and chicken. Today, most of the meat we buy contains zero omega-3, since we raise it in inadequate conditions.

However, if you are vegetarian or vegan, there are also some options for you. You can buy flax seeds that are an incredible source of omega-3, but you can also get them from avocados and nuts, although a smaller amount per gram. In any case, these sources should be enough for you to fill your body with all the omega 3 you need.

Keep in mind that more important than the absolute amount of omega 3 is the relative ratio of omega 3 to omega 6. You must thrive to keep omega 6 as low as possible and omega 3 high enough. Some scientists would say 1: 1 to 4: 1 towards omega 3, but I think it is easier to simply minimize the consumption of omega 6 foods while consuming some of the above foods for the  benefits of omega 3  .
